appear to be very sensible and well
thought out. From our own profile, the
nutrient ratios for the balanced plan
appeared to be around 50% carb, 20%
protein, and 30% fat - which is an excellent
balance between the current low-fat
vs low-carb debate.
This program is about the best that
you can withouth hiring your own chiefs
and personal trainers. There is no wonder
why they have been around for 8 years
and still at the top of the game!

One of the most well-rounded
diets out there is the Sonoma
Diet. There are no dramatic
restrictions on food groups, no
calorie counting, and all with

There

specific food cravings. Note that

The Glycemic Impact Diet
is based on the Glycemic Index
which has been around for ages.
EDiets.Com has a great online
version of this diet for you to
follow and I highly recommend
it.
This diet pretty much has you
eating low sugar foods, or when
you do eat sugar it is from the
right kind of food. You will be
eating a lot of whole grain and
fresh fruits, pretty much what
we stress on this site!
Here is how the meals breakdown
on the Glycemic Impact Diet:
1. Approximately 40% of calories
are from unrefined, complex carbohydrates,
including whole grains and whole
grain breads and cereals, and
whole pieces of fruit instead
of juice.
2. About 30% of calories are from
lean protein (fish, chicken and
the occasional beef and pork)
with vegetarian options that include
soy protein, tofu and textured
vegetable protein.
3. About 30% of calories are from
healthy fats, including nuts,
fatty fish, avocado and olive
oil.
We recommend this diet rather
then going stricly on diets like

is a weight loss plan that uses
replacements along with real food.
It has been prescribed by doctors
to obese people for many years.
The
MediFast 5 in 1 Plan
This 5 and 1 plan is made up of
5 meal replacements per day -
generally shakes, but there are
also bars, soups, oatmeal, and
puddings (see below). One meal
per day is a "lean and green"
meal - a small portion of lean
meat (see below), and up to 2
cups of salad or vegetables. This
is an excellent addition to the
daily routine and makes the diet
a whole lot more do-able.
You eat every 2-3 hours, and
must drink a minimum of 64oz of
water per day. Other drinks can
be consumed in addition to this.
The 5 and 1 plan is a vast improvement
on some of their previous programs.
You should expect to lose 2-5
pounds per week if you follow
the diet and exercise on a regular
basis.
Once your weight goal is reached,
the maintenance plan involves
a gradual transition back to 'normal'
meals over a period of about 16
days (however a much longer transition
period is recommended). Beyond
this, Medifast recommend 1-3 packaged
meals daily and a moderately intense
exercise routine (e.g. 30-45 minutes
5 days per week). This is essential
to keep the weight off.
If you want o have meals delivered
to your house, and will exercise
and follow the plan, then MediFast
is a great choice for you. But
you must follow it closely if
you want to loose weight!
